Southern Boho wedding in Pensacola, Florida

Aaron and Alesha have the kind of love story that romance novels are born from. You know the kind, where there’s two main characters who come from two very different places, walk through two different struggles but both share the same kind of kindness, love and faith. And it’s the people that they have grown into by tackling their trials and developing a strength unlike others that make them perfect for each other!

The ceremony

It’s their beautiful story of finding each other and being the exact half that the other needed, that created an immensely emotional day for these two. It was a cool and rainy day in downtown Pensacola where the two would tie the knot. The grey skies however, cleared the moment it was time for Alesha to walk down to her future husband. In a room that was small but filled with the few that mattered most, the most beautiful bride walked down the aisle inside of 5 Eleven’s warm, brick building, with candles glowing all around and tears being continuously shed. With her daughter, Zara who had just been walked down the aisle by Alesha’s brother, waiting next to her soon to be “Daddy Aaron,” Alesha met the two at the most gorgeous alter arrangement I have ever helped create. The groom, Aaron, had built the hexagon shaped arbor and I had adorned it with wild pampas grass and mauve colored silk flowers on top. At the base was a trio of vases and a giant beautifully boho rug that truly brought the neutral boho look together.

about the wedding day

One of the most memorable moments of the evening was before committing to Alesha, Aaron made it a very, special point to ask his new daughter Zara, if she would also commit to him in her life. You can only imagine the amount of sniffles and tears shared for this! With her acceptance, Aaron then wiped his tears only to look up at his beautiful bride in awe. I love that even though he is a very tall and manly man, that his reaction to seeing Alesha was pure sweetness, I still tear up just thinking about it!

Another meaningful moment these two shared was the humble act of washing each other’s feet during their ceremony. To any one who is unaware of this tradition, it’s an act to exemplify the love and humility of Jesus Christ, just like when He washed His disciples’ feet in John 13:1-17. In washing your spouse’s feet, you are showing them that you love them, respect them and are placing yourself in a position of humility to prove this. It’s a very sweet and faithful act that only further prove that the love that Aaron and Alesha have for one another is extraordinary.

Once these two sealed forever with a kiss, they snuck off to take some photos with their wonderful photographer Jessica . I love that they had a mixture of photos taken at 5 Eleven but also around the downtown area. Downtown Pensacola has become a small hub for good coffee and bites all while keeping the small town but modern feel which both Aaron and Alesha love.

Meanwhile, guests back at the venue snacked on delicious chips and salsa from Cactus Cantina and enjoyed sparkling sodas while they walked about the intimate and lovely space. Alesha wanted her décor to be simple and neutral, which was easy enough for me! We picked out all white flowers and added some simple greenery to go around the centerpieces, it was just enough to create her ideal tablescape.

Once the couple arrived to the party, the taco bar was opened and the music was in full swing! One thing I absolutely loved about assisting Alesha was that she had a great vision for what she wanted but she was also very simple and easy going about her wedding day. With her favorite food being served, her loved ones around and some good music for every one to dance to, these two had non stop smiles on their faces all night long!

the finale

And if you haven’t already heard, donuts are beyond superior to the traditional wedding cake! These two served up the most delectable ones from Sugar Rush Donuts! With plenty of eating, dancing and laughing, the night finally came to an end. With a fun, sparkler send off the newly weds ran straight through and onto a lovely life together. So blessed to have been able to be a part of such an intimate and special day, celebrating two of the best people that I have ever met. May God bless your marriage and your family Aarona and Alesha, cheers!
